Frequently asked questions

  • What is an SHA-256 checksum?
A checksum is a file’s “fingerprint” — a 64-character hexadecimal string (0-9, a-f) produced by the cryptographic hash algorithm SHA-256 from the file’s entire contents.
Change even one byte in the file and the checksum changes completely, making it a reliable way to detect tampering, transmission errors, or substitutions.
  • How to verify a document?
    1. When downloading a document (to your local computer) from the ZEN website always use the “Save file” option instead of “Open with”. Opening the file in preview mode and then saving it may alter the file, which means its hash will no longer match the one published by ZEN.COM.
    2. Upload the file and paste the document hash from the e-mail you received from ZEN.COM.
    3. After clicking the “Verify” button, the document is calculated, and then compared.
